DARLENYS CASTILL0
Darlenys Castillo, a professional architect from Caracas, has been closely connected to Margarita Island since childhood and has lived there for over 30 years. A self-taught artist in the fine arts, she gravitates toward digital drawing.
In 2020, she discovered the activities of the Carlos Stohr Foundation and decided to return to traditional drawing techniques while exploring themes related to urban drawing.
Understanding the importance of developing expertise, Darlenys participated in various workshops on traditional drawing techniques and became skilled in carefully observing every detail. Consequently, she won several competitions, including Fundastohr 2023 which earned her the opportunity to hold an individual exhibition entitled “Paraíso” (Paradise).
The "Paraíso" Exhibition expresses Darlenys' connection and profound appreciation for Margarita Island. Using different artistic techniques ranging from digital to conventional, she skillfully captures the movements of sea waves and glittering water surfaces with seabirds fluttering above them. She even takes you on an adventure she shared with sea turtles.
Her work also depicts the serene and sometimes solitary nature of the towns and rural landscapes, the people, their charisma, their culture, and customs.
Each piece allows us not just to see, but also to feel what makes this Caribbean island unique: its characteristic light that illuminates everything around it, highlighting colors vividly, and enlivening landscapes.
Darlenys Castillo’s art transports us effortlessly to the paradise that is Margarita Island.
